5. Basic Policy Regarding Mail Magazine Registration and Participation in Online Activities

When registering as a cyber-activist or taking part in online activities like petitions and calls for emails and faxes, a participant will always be given the option of whether to continue/discontinue receiving the newsletter or participating in such activities. In becoming a GPJ supporter, there is the option to sign up for the newsletter, receive detailed information etc., or to choose not to do so.

For cyber-actions, individual names and email addresses are used rather than the Greenpeace name and email address. The companies and Governments to which cyber-action mails and faxes are sent do on occasion send responses to each individual email or postal address. Should a participant feel that their information was used inappropriately by the subject organisation of a cyber-action, that participant is advised to alert GPJ.

This policy applies to the entirety of the GPJ website but the privacy policies of the organisations linked to the website may differ.

Aside from such specified purposes as registration for mail magazines, questionnaires and events, GPJ does not make use of private information. Information provided for these purposes is kept strictly under control.

6. Compliance with the Law

GPJ acts in accordance with legislation regarding the protection of personal information. GPJ also makes every effort in keeping staff informed and conducting staff training for the continuation and improvement of this Basic Policy.
